This museum windmill called de Breek can be found in the Etersheimer Braakpolder. The polder which was created in 1632 is located between Edam and Hoorn. Here you can find the lowest point in the Province North Holland: 6,60 meters ( 21,7 ft) below the sea level! After the flooding disaster of January 1916 the clay from this polder was used to rebuild and fortify the dike along the Zuiderzee. The nearby Beemster polder is famous for its cheese and we found a cheese vending machine!
The cafe les deux ponts made a great stop for coffee and apple pie.
The quaint city of Deventer, former member of the Hanseatic League, located on the Ijssel river is worth a visit. When you are there, make sure to try the famous Deventer koek ( gingerbread cake)made by Bussink.
