Bike tour Waterland

Bike tour Waterland

Let's hop on the ferry and leave the city centre. We are off on a 4-hour bicycle tour through the typical Dutch countryside. We will explore the area know as Waterland, dotted with small picturesque villages with wooden houses, lakes, canals and bridges and pastures full of cattle. The dairy farmers in this area used to bring their milk to Amsterdam with flat-bottomed barges. We will cycle along the dikes and you'll learn about the struggle of the Dutch against the water. We will cover around 30kms (19 miles) at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops for photos and of course refreshments.

Please note: you will have to bring your own bicycle. There are many places in the city where you can rent them. Also, a lot of hotels have bicycles for their guests. If you decide to join me on a bicycle tour in the Dutch countryside, I can help you find a place near your hotel to rent a bicycle.

You will notice that few Dutch people wear helmets. Some of the bicycle rentals provide helmets. We will try to avoid busy areas, however, joining the bicycle tour is at your own risk!
